Emergency Medical Services
A vital part of what the City of Waukesha Fire Department does is providing emergency medical service (EMS) to the community.
Trained & Licensed Staff
All of our members are Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) licensed, and roughly half are licensed as Paramedics.
Trained & Licensed Staff
All of our members are Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) licensed, and roughly half are licensed as Paramedics.
Apparatus & Dispatch
Our organization's ability to cross-staff apparatus and adjust computer aided dispatch protocols allow us to initiate care immediately upon our arrival (regardless of whether an engine or ambulance arrives first) and ensure that there are at least 3 paramedic apparatuses available throughout the city to provide advanced care if needed.
Waukesha Memorial Hospital
Most medical transports are taken to Waukesha Memorial Hospital. The City of Waukesha benefits a great deal by having a hospital located in the heart of our City.
Strategic Partnership
By having a strategic partnership with Waukesha Memorial Hospital, the City of Waukesha Fire Department ensures prompt, professional, and excellent service to the entire City. Very few communities in the County can say that they have their own hospital. The fact that we have one centrally located within our City helps to ensure rapid transport times to the hospital, which translates into less discomfort for our patients.
Transports to Other Facilities
Occasionally, the need may arise when transports to other facilities are necessary. These needs are based on, but not limited to:
- Hospital diversions
- Request of patient
- Patient condition
Available Facilities
In these instances, the City of Waukesha Fire Department is prepared to make adjustments to transport patients to facilities like:
- Children's Hospital of Wisconsin
- Community Memorial Hospital
- Elmbrook
- Froedtert
- Oconomowoc
- Saint Mary's Burn Center
- West Allis
- Wisconsin Heart Hospital
