SPX Transformer Solutions has a rich history spanning more than 50 years. With familiar industry names like Hevi-Duty and ABB in their timeline, roots are firmly planted in the power industry. Flourishing from their humble beginnings in small warehouses with only a few pieces of equipment to one of the largest U.S. manufacturers of power transformers and valued supplier of transformer service solutions, SPX currently employs over 1000 people nationwide between their field service team, sales organization and three manufacturing facilities, including a 516,000 square foot headquarters facility in Waukesha.

Originally opened in 1970, the Waukesha facility’s capabilities have evolved through two significant expansions. In 2001, SPX Transformer Solutions added a large power transformer line to increase capabilities to produce units with ratings up to 200 MVA. To meet growing industry needs, a 144,000 square foot expansion was completed in 2012 that enables the manufacturing of units with a power rating up to 1200 MVA and testing capabilities up to 500,000 volts.
