Throughout the City of Waukesha, the sidewalk network provides a safe and accessible pathway for all pedestrians. For many residents walking is a critical means of transportation. For individuals with disabilities, having a safe passable sidewalk is essential.
Most public sidewalks are located in the public right-of-way and therefore owned by the City. However, per City ordinances, it is the responsibility of the property owner or occupant to maintain and keep the sidewalk clear of any debris, obstructions, snow and ice.
